TRANSPORTATION
Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) has a mission to determine the regional inter-modal transportation needs and make recommendations on how those needs might be met.
The TAC committee is comprised of two representatives from each of SMCOG's ten counties and are appointed each year by the SMCOG board of directors.

The TAC prioritizes local transportation needs within the region annually. Road, bridge, bicycle and pedestrian regional needs are then prioritized with all regional planning agencies in the MoDOT Southwest District for incorporation into the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

Regional Transportation Plan >> See Plan Here

The SMCOG Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is a comprehensive, performance based, multi-modal and coordinated regional plan, which develops a basis for future needs by using existing population, employment, and land use data to identify trends critical for the development of accurate forecastsand projections on growth and development that will guide future transportation improvements.
The purpose of this document is to submit the transportation needs for this region to MoDOT for inclusion in the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and the State’s Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). The RTP covers all modes of transportation from a regional perspective, including freeways/highways, streets, public mass transit, airports, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, goods movement and special needs transportation.

Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan (PTHSTCP) >> See Plan Here

Federal law requires that projects and programs seeking funding through the Enhanced Mobility for Individuals and Individuals with Disabilities (Section 5310) be identified in a locally developed PTHSTCP. The PTHSTCP must be developed through a public process with participation from seniors, individuals with disabilities, transportation service providers, and human service agencies. Transportation needs of individuals with disabilities, seniors, and people with low incomes are identified in the PTHSTCP and strategies for meeting those needs are developed.

The SMCOG PTHSTCP was updated in 2023 and adopted by the Board of Directors on December 6, 2023.
